Office of Police Oversight
The Office of Police Oversight provides impartial review and investigation of complaints of misconduct by Boise police officers. In addition, the Office of Police Oversight conducts independent reviews of officer involved shootings and other critical incidents. We are completely independent of the Boise Police Department and answer directly to the Mayor and City Council. Our mission is to promote public confidence in the professionalism and accountability of the employees of the Boise Police Department.
***Important Notice: The Office of Police Oversight will not issue findings on matters that have current, active and open criminal cases in a court of law. In most cases, investigation findings will not be released until all criminal cases associted with the incident have been adjuducated and closed.***

The City of Boise downtown parking system is patroled and meters are enforced by parking enforcement officers within the Parking Services Department. This department operates outside of the Boise Police Department and therefore, is outside of the jurisdiction of the Office of Police Oversight. The Winter of 2016-2017 was one of the most productive snow seasons in recent memory in Boise. Snow accumulation causes special problems for residents, drivers and businesses, inlcuding law enforcement. Snow removal of city streets is handled by the Ada County Highway District. However, several city departments handle snow related issues. Enforcement of snow removal from sidewalks is predominantly handled by the Code Compliance and Community Resources office and is outside of the jurisdiction of the Office of Police Oversight.
